Today, a fairy tale, which differs from the version I know but which Susan Griffin writes about in her book, Out of Silence, Sound. Out of Nothing, Something.
One upon a time, there was a cobbler who made really fantastic shoes. A rich duke (or whatever flavor of nobleman you like) comes along and says he wants to buy 1000 pairs of these shoes, for which he’ll pay more gold than the cobbler can even fathom.
There’s a catch, of course: the cobbler has to make all the shoes by the following morning, or else he’ll get his head cut off.
