I spent years building a platform to be a known “expert” on a topic. I got the book deal, wrote and toured the book. People have finally heard of my work. But now I feel typecast and I no longer want to write about that same topic anymore. The thought of ghostwriting and pen names never appealed to me until now. I just want to make money as a writer. This piece opened my eyes to possibilities. Thank you!
Writing under a pen name is so freeing - even if you end up using your real name in the end. But I know what you mean about being typecast. There's a lot of pressure to produce a slightly different version of what you've produced already.
